Hearing assessment

Understanding your hearing is the first step

Appropriate recommendations begin with understanding an individual's hearing and communication needs — how much sound is heard, how clearly speech is understood, and how the middle ear is functioning. Only then does a discussion about options make sense.

  • Newborn & infant assessment
  • OAE and BERA / ABR testing
  • Pure tone & speech audiometry
  • Tympanometry
  • Hearing aid benefit assessment
Hearing aids

The right hearing aid is more than a device

A hearing aid performs when it is matched to your hearing and your listening life — then fitted, verified and adjusted by a professional over time.

When hearing aids are not enough

For some people with severe to profound hearing loss, a comprehensive cochlear implant evaluation may be considered when hearing aids do not provide sufficient benefit.

Understand Cochlear Implants

Important

No website can determine candidacy. Based on the information you share, a comprehensive evaluation may be worth discussing with our clinical team — that evaluation is where suitability is assessed.

Not sure where to begin?

Start by telling us about your hearing concern. Our team can help guide you toward an appropriate next step. This does not provide a diagnosis and does not replace a clinical assessment.

Questions patients ask us first

If your question is not here, our patient care coordinators are happy to talk it through.

How do I know whether I need a hearing assessment?

If you ask people to repeat themselves, struggle in noisy places, turn the television up, or have concerns about a child's speech and response to sound, an assessment is the reliable way to find out what is happening.

Do you see children as well as adults?

Yes. We provide newborn and infant screening, paediatric diagnostic testing, and paediatric rehabilitation alongside our adult hearing and implant services.

Can a website tell me whether I am a cochlear implant candidate?

No. Candidacy is decided through a comprehensive clinical evaluation. What we can do is help you understand whether that evaluation is worth arranging.

What happens after I send an enquiry?

Our patient care coordinators review it, contact you to understand your situation, and arrange the appropriate appointment for your needs.
